NOTICE:
As many of you know the OCGI Server was hacked in mid-November, and substantial damage was done to the system files and some data corruption also occurred. Since that time we have worked to repair these impacts and rebuild the system, and we are happy to report that the server is now functioning at about 95% of the level prior to the attack and we hope all remaining functions will be repaired in he next few days. If you happen to come across a function that is still not working as it did before the outage, please contact us and we will make sure to investigate it ASAP. Thank you for your cooperation, assistance, and patience and we apologize for any inconveniences.
Welcome to the Oklahoma Center for Geospatial Information (OCGI). This site public service and research project of the Department of Geography at Oklahoma State University (OSU) with the collaboration and support of Strategic Consulting International (SCI) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The metadata available from OCGI can be searched through the FGDC/NSDI Clearinghouse, and the website is a member of and indexed on The Geography Network and the GeoData.gov Clearinghouse.
OCGI is currently hosting websites for the Oklahoma Wind Power Initiative (OWPI), the Oklahoma Renewable Energy Consortium (OREC), the OSU Botanical Garden, and an interactive map site of all academic Geography Departments in North America. We will soon be adding websites for the Oklahoma State Historic Preservation Office and the Oklahoma Transportation Center (OTC).
In addition to the websites mentioned above, OCGI hosts ArcIMS Mapservices for base maps of Oklahoma providing a comprehensive and standardized set of base layers for use by any ArcGIS 8.x user without downloading actual datasets to the workstation. The site also offers downloadable shapefiles for users who prefer to retrieve data to their workstation for most of the layers available in the ArcIMS Mapservices. The downloadable data is currently available on a statewide basis for all of Oklahoma.
OCGI is also now providing (in BETA form) a map based retrieval function for downloading DOQQ and DRG images and worldfiles, as well as customized areal download of many of the vector based datasets offered as statewide shapefiles or in the Mapservices. We plan to further develop the user interface and display characteristics of this function over the upcoming weeks in order to make the site more user friendly and “what you see is what you get”. We hope that all development on this service will be complete by early October 2003.
Thank you for your interest in OCGI, and please bear with us as we continue to update and improve our services. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
