Statistics:
The
city of Chickasha started in Indian Territory, its
Carnegie Library grant was received in 1903, before statehood was granted in
1907.
The Carnegie grant was $10,000.00.
The building was torn down in 1963.

The Chickasha Carnegie Library was built in 1903,and presented an
impressive 2 story
classical facade, featuring a pair of twinned Corinthian columns, with an
architrave and frieze
supporting a
triangular pediment.
The
letter to request the funding of the library was signed by members of the
Commercial Club, the Sorosis Club, the Chautauqua Club, the New Century Club,
the President of the School Board and the Mayor of the city. In many cases in
Oklahoma, and nationally as well, women's organizations were active in the
pursuit of Carnegie funding for libraries.
