Lawton Carnegie Library

The Lawton Carnegie Library, currently available as a meeting space, was saved from destruction by vigorous campaigning by concerned citizens. The exterior was preserved, and efforts were made to restore the interior and replace the original furniture. In 1976 the building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Lawton Carnegie Library served the community as a public library until the new one opened in December of 1973.
