DESCRIPTION: THE COOPER BISON KILL SITE REPRESENTS A LOCATION WHERE FOLSOM COMPLEX (10,900-10,200 BC) HUNTERS CARRIED OUT THREE ARROYO-STYLE BISON KILLS. ARTIFACTS FOUND INCLUDE ARROW POINTS AND A PAINTED BISON SKULL, REPRESENTING THE EARLIEST KNOWN EVIDENCE FOR PAINTED ARTWORK IN THE NEW WORLD. THIS SITE HAS YIELDED ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE HUNTING ACTIVITIES OF THESE EARLY PEOPLE. LISTED IN THE NATIONAL REGISTER 10/7/2002.
